I’m super excited to share a new milestone… my first book! It’s been 3+ years since I started this journey and now it’s finally here.
My whole reason for writing this book is to make F.I.R.E. (financial independence retire early) accessible to anyone.
The F.I.R.E. Planner: A Step-by-Step Workbook to Reach Your Full Financial Potential was officially released on May 4th, 2021, and is AVAILABLE now. (For Early Purchase Bonuses – Click here)
Finding Fuel for The F.I.R.E. Planner
When I first started this book project more than 3 years ago, I naively imagined doing it ALL on my own. Well, let me tell you… that went nowhere fast! I got through some of the content, but it was disjointed and I couldn’t muster up the discipline to finish it. So, I had a half-written book collecting digital dust.
Luckily, as fate would have it, Quarto, a publisher in the UK reached out in late 2019 and asked if I’d be interested in writing a book on FIRE. I was a bit skeptical at first, but what really sparked my interest in this project was their strong history of creating visually appealing and information-rich books. I thought if we could combine this element with a plan to reach FIRE, then we’d have a real chance of making FIRE accessible to anyone.
THAT was the fuel I need to get this done.
And, so I got busy. Once we had an agreement in place, I finally had a deadline to motivate me. It’s amazing what we can accomplish once we have a focus. I kicked out the primary content in just 2.5 months! Working with a traditional publisher was incredible. I got to work with an amazing team of editors, artists, copy editors, etc who all contributed to a work I’m truly proud of.
S&S has been an incredible partner throughout, and even before going to press, they provided critical insights and additional elements for the book. I’m excited to currently be working with their launch team.
How this Book is Different
There are already some amazing books out there on FIRE, FI, and personal finance. So, I wanted to do something different that hadn’t been done before.
First of all, this isn’t your typical personal finance book. It’s an interactive planner/journal that you can write into and engage directly with the content.
This design accomplishes a couple of things:
- It makes the content more approachable and digestible
- It engages your learning on a different level by getting you involved with learning
Next, I’m a pretty big proponent of personal growth and development. So, I wanted to integrate some of the best practices I’ve learned over the years and apply them with money.
For example, when’s the last time you examined your money beliefs? For a lot of us, we never face these beliefs head-on. And yet these money beliefs control the actions we are willing to take (or not take).
This is so important because actions are what produce the results we are looking for.
BELIEFS >> ACTIONS >> RESULTS
Finally, while making your FIRE Plan, it’s critical to know your WHY. A FIRE journey is a marathon and you’ll want to be clear on your outcome early on.
Why do you want to achieve financial independence? Why do you want to retire early? The F.I.R.E. Planner goes deep into making sure you understand these important elements for yourself so you can customize the plan based on your values and drive long-term success.
Personal Finance Fundamentals
Making FIRE accessible to anyone means starting from the beginning.
The F.I.R.E. Planner will walk beginners through the basics of understanding what money is at a fundamental level. It covers how the stock markets work and explains why passive investing is not only simple but also effective.
The book covers key personal finance metrics like net worth and cash flow, so you can learn to measure where you are at along your journey to FI.
And, it highlights the power of being intentional with your money.
For Seasoned Investors Seeking FI
For those who are already working towards FIRE, there’s something inside for you too!
The F.I.R.E. Planner highlights 3 core FIRE accelerators (i.e. passive income engines):
- aggressive saving/investing
- real estate investing
Chances are you may be familiar with one or two strategies, so I hope it will be insightful to learn about the others to add additional fuel to your FIRE.
When it comes to passive investing, there’s a section on how to create your own investor policy to help keep you grounded when uncertainty strikes.
With real estate investing, I cover a few different ways you can generate passive income, such as house hacking, syndications, and traditional cash flow REI.
For entrepreneurs, there’s a list of side hustles you can consider while also thinking about its potential to scale into something significant.
Remember, your income is only limited by your creativity and I’m was happy to share success stories within each of these FIRE accelerators.
And for those of you still figuring out which FIRE accelerator is the best fit, now you can make an educated choice of which one(s) are best for your particular situation.
The “BEST” FIRE Plan
There’s no one-size-fits-all FIRE plan. The “best” FIRE plan is the one that is personalized to you.
That’s why The F.I.R.E. Planner goes deep. It will help you to exercise your imagination and get crystal clear on your desired outcome. (In fact, some of you may find by going through this book, you don’t want to pursue FIRE at all… and that’s okay!)
This self-discovery should give you choices that you may not have realized before.
Should I Retire, or Not?
You can keep this book right alongside you when you finally do reach F.I.
The F.I.R.E. Planner is going to give you insights you may have not considered.
What are the pros/cons of retiring early? What strategies are available to pull out money from your accounts early while still being tax efficient?
And, as you transition to a new FIRE life. What are your new goals?
You see, what many people don’t realize is that FI/FIRE are just transition points. Life goes on, but now you have unlimited choices to make it count.
How can you create a wealth legacy that lives beyond your time here? And, how can you use your newfound time to develop deeper relationships with loved ones?
I hope you can see from my passion here that I’m super excited about this book. I’m excited because I know it has the potential to change lives and I’m getting to come full circle within my own FIRE journey.
This book is about YOU. It’s about your ability to do something extraordinary – because that’s how our Creator designed you to be.
Success is NOT defined by your ability to retire early, but by the efforts you make to grow into your potential and find fulfillment along your unique journey.
You are already a miracle, so consider my book as an extra guide to your greatness.
Upwards and onwards friend!
